According to former babysitter Krisann Morel, the actress’ late mother Marcheline Bertrand virtually abandoned Jolie after a terrible 1976 split from hubby Jon Voight.
Morel also laid claim that, for two years, Bertrand sequestered Jolie in a separate apartment in her building, where a revolving staff cared for the young girl.
However, Jolie has publicly declared her veneration to her mother, who passed away in January 2007 of cancer.
But Morton has written that Jolie was permanently scarred by this early abandonment, which led her to self-destructive acts and a "come here, now go away" personality.
